Peppermint Sugar ScrubIf you’re looking for a cute and simple holiday gift to give out to friends or family or just looking to get into the festive spirit yourself, try making this homemade peppermint sugar scrub! It’s very easy to make with less than four ingredients and most likely all already in your kitchen. I love making this DIY scrub because it smells amazing (like candy canes!) and it’s a great scrub to use to exfoliate dry skin in the winter and to use as a hand scrub or even lip scrub! The sugar acts as a natural exfoliant, while the coconut oil adds moisture back into the skin. The peppermint essential oil in this scrub is excellent for relieving any skin irritation or inflammation, helps relieve muscle pain and even helps with sinuses and allergies when breathed in.

Peppermint essential oil also has an energizing effect making your body and mind feel more alert and awake. As an added bonus, using this as a lip scrub also helps slightly plump up your lips! Peppermint oil helps circulate more blood flow to your lips and gives a temporary plumping effect. Here is a link to the Peppermint essential oil that I use but any will do as long as its 100% pure undiluted therapeutic grade essential oils.

Not only do you get these benefits but best of all you get to smell like Christmas candy canes! =)

Homemade Peppermint scrubSupplies Needed:
  • Mason Jar
  • Bowl and spoon to mix
Ingredients:
  • White sugar
  • Unrefined Coconut oil
  • Peppermint Essential Oil
  • Red food coloring (optional)
Directions:
  1. Mix about 1 cup sugar with 1/2 cup melted coconut oil (can microwave for about 10 seconds to get the right consistency if its too hard) in your bowl.
  2. Add in about 10-15 drops of Peppermint essential oil. I just add more if I want a stronger peppermint smell or less if I want it more faint.
  3. Once you mix the sugar, coconut oil, and peppermint essential oil all together you can then choose to add a few drops of red food coloring. This is completely optional but definitely makes it looks prettier and more festive! I just added 2-3 drops of food coloring, one at a time until I got the color I wanted.
  4. Then transfer scrub to a sealed container like a mason jar.
  5. Scrub away!
